For those who don’t already know, this song was the theme from the Hannah Montana film, and still stands as one of Miley Cyrus’s most annoying moments. It’s an empty, pretentious string of warmed-over platitudes set to a lifelessly anthemic power ballad, and apparently was able to fool enough stupid people into thinking it was profound that a British Reality TV winner decided to release a cover of it later that same year. It does help that the cover singer here, having come up through the Reality TV system, actually has a decent singing voice, which Miley Cyrus emphatically does not, but a British teenybopper prettyboy with a passable tenor and no personality to speak of isn’t enough to redeem this piece of desperately polished excrement.

After two extremely disappointing albums, this song represents a definite return to form for Aguilera. It samples the synth hook from A-Ha’s “Take on Me”, which is always good to hear again in any context, and Aguilera’s vocals are nothing short of spectacular.
