I’ll say this for this song, it’s certainly different. This is, quite literally, a club-music squaredance, complete with the “Swing your partner round and round” refrain. This kind of thing has been done before (I think the first example was the Nineties Eurodance remix of “Cotton Eye Joe” by Rednex), but so rarely that it still seems absolutely bizarre. Pitbull references Miley Cyrus in his rap verse, which seems fitting as she was the most recent person to try this combination (with “Hoedown Throwdown”), but that was a musical number in a film vehicle and an obscure failed single, not a Number One hit on the pop charts. In short, this is a spectacularly bad song, but I will admit it makes for hilarious listening.
